GREEN RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE $15,176 for Small Business Assistance Center

Grant previously approved for over three fiscal years, total $64,506. This will provide individual counseling and referral services to entrepreneurs and work with to develop a curriculum of course offerings targeted to independent business owners and managers. They are soliciting private funds for an endowment of $300,000 by December 2001.

$15,000 for Small Business Assistance Center

This grant extends the funding for the Small Business Assistance Center. Its mission continues to be to improve the profitability of independent businesses, through knowledge and skill development, and stimulate economic growth in South King County. Consistent continued funding for the next three years, total $90,000 will allow this strong program to stabilize and find permanent funding.

SEATTLE PACIFIC UNIVERISTY $27,491 For Mentorship

Sixth year of a 10-year grant (totaling $260,847) for undergraduate and graduate students to have an opportunity for a meaningful and ongoing interaction with business leaders.

$59,606 for Entrepreneurship Program

The four-year grant to engage in real “live-fire” business start ups in partnership with the Battelle Institute; to enhance core SPU curriculum; to identify students with entrepreneurial proclivity; and to create a sustainable program..

PACFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY $42,000 For Puget Sound Entrepreneurship Academy

Provided an additional year for the Puget Sound Entrepreneurship Academy. Provide high potential Pacific Northwest college students aspiring to entrepreneurial careers with the professional development and access to successful role models. Programs held on Saturday mornings, four to five hours, with 10 programs throughout the semester.

$23,000 for ePLU

Second year of a three fiscal year grant, total $42,000. This provides for services for local companies through student and faculty research projects to assist companies in developing an e-business stragegy and solves operations problems faced by the organization in the Internet economy. This includes student assistants, program general support, conferences, classes, off campus seminars and research grants. Research grants require a written report to be shared with students and staff at PLU and the faculties of other state universities/colleges.

$15,000 for ePLU

Additional grant is for Internet domain set up and registration and for a part time director, at a cost of a replacement filling their current school duties. This is dispersed over 2 years.

SEATTLE UNIVERSITY $10,000 for Entrepreneurship Center
$5,000 for Mentorship Project

Previously approved Center and Project is to be funded each year. This is the final year. Including past distributions this grant totals $155,000.

$35,000 for Entrepreneur Center and Mentorship Endowment

An exception to guidelines, this grant is for four-year annual payment, until fiscal year 2001-02. Total will be $140,000.

$18,964 for Entrepreneur Center

Final of a four-year grant distribution. Grant is to strengthen the Entrepreneur Center’s basic consultative program and expand its academic and outreach activities. This includes student teams working with and advising select small business clients; creating a MBA concentration in entrepreurship; a high school awareness program; an entrepreneur advisor program; an entrepreneur in residence program; and a community speaker series on entrepreneurship.

$42,878 for Entrepreneur Center

This grant will provide support for the next three years for an Entrepreneurship Workshop/Speaker Series/Business plan Competition: for involvement in the Collegiate Entrepreneur Awards Program; for a faculty and Curriculum Development Program; for the Entrepreneur Advisor-Career Exploration Program; for the Entrepreneur in Residence and Breakfast Briefing; for a Graduate Assistant position; and for basic programs. Approved for a total of $122,124.

UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON

$30,000 for Business Plan Competition

Second year of a three-year grant is for a total of $90,000. The competition is focused on the education process and creating new ventures. The Competition has been very successful and has had a positive effect on all the northwest schools.

$25,000 for Faculty Projects

Final year of grant is coordinated by the UW and a representative from this Foundation to distribute to faculty applying from northwest universities. This is to promote entrepreneurial research projects, course and case development. The projects are to be published and available to all schools./p>

$17,500 for High-Tech Speaker Series

Three-year continued support for the Series to continue while securing permanent funding. Same commitment to inviting other colleges and schools, and providing tapes if requested.

NORTHWEST SCHOOL FOR HEALING - IMPAIRED CHILDREN

$25,000 for annual annuity

This grant is specifically directed and exempted from Mission and Guidelines

$28,000 for teacher support

Five-year grant to provide a teacher while School secures funds for an endowment to support the salary of a teacher into the future. Subject to reasonable progress to goal of a $600,000 endowment fund.

COLUMBIA BASIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE

$30,000 Business Plan Competition/p>

Provided an additional year is funding for the successful small business plan contest, which will provide mentoring and professional assistance during a fifteen-month business start up period for the contest winner. They are securing more permanent funding.

HERITAGE COLLEGE

$28,080 for Business Internships

Final year of two-year grant is for student internships with local businesses. Students will gain an extremely important experiential education with an internship in a professional business environment. The internships are in the Yakima Valley and Tri City area

EDMONDS COMMUNITY COLLEGE

$58,484 for E-Commerce Development Program

Grant is to assist their Small Business Development Center in establishing a program for small business owners in the Puget Sound region.
